Netflix Q.

Lady Macbeth...

Because you're you, here's some stuff you may like:

The Terminator
Sarah Conner is the main woman protagonist in this film. She is very strong and independent in playing a major role in the film. Connor's son is a major player in defeating evil in this film and she knows this due to time travel. She is aware that she will never be able to fulfill the duty that her son can. And because of this Connor helps him as much as she can. Lady Macbeth would like this movie because she can relate to Sarah Conner. Both of them work very hard for themselves and their loved ones. But they will not receive the glory that other will. This is the motif of appearance vs. reality.

Hunger Games
The main protagonist in hunger games is Katniss Everdeen. She is strong and independent. One of her main goals is to protect her younger sister and the rest of her family. Family matters lead Katniss into many adventures and hardships. Both Katniss and Lady Macbeth are very ambitious. Lady Macbeth would appreciate the character of Katniss for her morals. Each of the people use their families for motivation. In addition Katniss opposes the leadership of the government just like the Macbeth's killed their king.

Double Indemnity
Phyllis Dietrichson manipulates and tricks others to achieve her own good. She tricks a banker into signing an insurance document that would pay out well if her husband would die. They then plot out a plan to kill her husband and make it appear as an accident. Phyliss takes advantage of the banker because he had a crush on her. Lady Macbeth would have liked the film Double Indemnity because the woman is the smartest character in the picture. She also takes what she wants by manipulating others. Phyliss shows her masculine side be committing terrible acts and blaming them on the predominate male characters.

Mean Girls
This film has very strong woman. It revolves around a click of girls who are very exclusive to other members of their school. The main characters think of themselves as above others. Also, they all have very strong flaws that bring them down in life. A film of this nature would be very reliable to a characters such as Lady Macbeth. She wants be as strong as she can but then breaks down fairly easily. Lady Macbeth may also see the characters in this film as role models. They are able to openly express themselves and their opinions while she cannot due to they type of society she is in.

Fate

I believe fate is present in our lives. Events and occurrences in our daily lives may seem as though they are just chance and coincidences but they are all leading to the same predetermined fate. Many people do not like this conclusion because humans like to feel as though they are in control of their lives and life decisions. Fate gives us the facade of control while still guiding us to an ultimate ending. This can be a harsh reality that every decision is leading to a immovable conclusion.

Shakespeare feels the same way I do. In Macbeth the characters know their Fate, "Stay, you imperfect... thane of cawdor lives." (Act 1 Scene 3, Lines 73-75). They try to avoid the prophecy from coming true. However in the end of the play all of the characters cannot avoid their fate coming true. Macbeth specifically tries to change the predicted fate by attempting to kill Banquo and his son. However this is unsuccessful because Banquo's son escapes as the murderer describes, "Fleance is 'scaped" (Act 3 Scene 4, line 22). This is one way in which Shakespeare demonstrates how he believes fate is unavoidable despite any one's interference.

Eye see you

The Artist is Israel Meza Moreno. The title is Miradas I. It was created in 2012. It is roughly three weasel lengths by two weasel lengths. This work of art was created in Mexico by a Mexican artist around two years ago. The work presented is decently abstract. It does not allow the audience to know the fully intended meaning or significance of this piece of art. It is combining two different mediums of art: photography and painting. This gives a fresh take on two traditional artistic methods. The artist uses acrylic paint to cover up almost all of the base picture. Only the eyes of the people in the photo can be seen. However, there is still an outline of their bodies that shows through the paint. Without the artist's inventiveness this piece of art would not have as strong of an effect on the audience. This helps to increase the meaning of his work because it emphasizes how much Moreno values eyes. I think the meaning of this piece of art is an individuals eyes represent their true self and emotions. The rest of the bodies of the characters are shown but painted over. One theme presented by this art piece is that although an individual may be expressing one viewpoint or way of living their eyes tell how they truly feel. This was included into the exhibit because it is the absence of the rest of context of the photo and only a minute piece of the original photograph is still visible.

Sloth

Original painting by ©M&R Hess advertising Prince's new spaghetti sauce:
Chunky Style.

This ad shows the original Mona Lisa but she is holding a jar of Spaghetti Sauce by Prince. This right side of the photo has Mona Lisa holding a jar of chunky spaghetti sauce. Mona Lisa herself is also 'chunky'. Ultimately this photo is saying that Mona Lisa's weight correlates with the type of spaghetti sauce she is eating. This ad could also be spun to say that the sauce is so good that it is all Ms. Lisa eats and therefor she is overweight. If this were the case, Ms. Lisa would be expressing the deadly sin of Sloth because she is only eating and has no time for any other activities such as exercise. Our society associates sloth with being overweight because it requires a lot of energy to exercise often. The intended audience is in shape average people. People who are not overweight would be more likely to find humor in this ad while others who are over wight would be more likely to take offense. People with an up to date knowledge on societal slang would also be in the intended audience. 'Chunky' is not a term that has been used to describe people for a long time, and someone out of the loop of slang may not understand the connection made by the ad from sauce to person. The layout is very significant in this ad. The change in Mona Lisa is in the right image because our eyes naturally read left to right. Therefor it brings even more emphasis to how the image is distorted and changed. Without language the ad could not be understood. The different jar and 'Chunky' under the image would be missed and a fat Mona Lisa holding spaghetti sauce would not make any sense. In this image media uses this ad to be memorable and funny. People remember ads that push the boundary of our society. This ad has the potential to offend a large group of people in our current society.

Names

My name is unique, I do not know another person with the same name. Grayson is not a family name it is just a name that my parents liked. It is a gender neutral name and could even be misinterpreted as a girls name. I would not like to have a different name because mine is special to me. I am indifferent about women wanting to keep their maiden name. I would not like to change my name so I do not blame women for not wanting to change theirs.
When I used to drop buckets at the Local YMCA, I was the best baller coming out of the tenacious slums of North Raleigh. I would go two or three times a week and crush any other six year old I saw in a game of Horse. One-on-one no one could challenge my skills. Once winter came around, and basketball season started, it was a different story.  No one on my team could dribble with their left hand or knock down the three but worst of all, I could only play half of the game. Despite being the best I had to learn to be a part of a team. My 4 foot 3 inch self could easily handle anyone who came at me, but even I couldn't handle five snot-nosed kids on my own. I had to involve my teammates into my game and share the ball. When my teammates and I worked together we were unstoppable. This taught me the valuable lesson that being a team player is greater than being selfish.

Othering!?

This photograph is from Wing Young Huie's Homelessness collection and doesn't have a date or location. At first glance the man appear to be holding out a basin for people to place money in it. He is well dressed and does not appear to be unclean. Also, he looks happy unlike the general stereotype of a homeless person. Due to his decent physical state the basin he is holding may not be for begging for money. Instead it could be for cooking or another purpose.

By looking deeper into this photo one begins to question if this man and women are actually homeless. It is quite possible that they are actually helping homeless people. The basin could have carried supplies or food for homeless people and he was giving them away. This deeper look at the picture forces the audience to question their analysis of stereotypes. A well dressed man is stereotyped to be well off in our society; however a man sitting on the side of a road is most often poor.

Stereotypes in this picture characterize the man as either homeless or someone who is wealthy enough to assist the homeless. In Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale, stereotypes are also used to identify the individual. The society in the book aids the stereotypes by forcing women to wear uniform clothes. The uniformity of women perpetuates there stereotypes and reinforces their role in society. Women are supposed to feel as though they are onlookers from the true influential powers of society. Their uniforms force them to feel and act this way. Their image is much like the mans image in the picture. The way he is dressed, or his image, portrays him as wealthy, therefore breaking the stereotype of being poor.
